Actually, I was watching CNN the other day, and the Republican strategists that were on said, "If Dean wins the Democratic nomination and we do a good job [with the Bush campaign], we'll win, but not by much."[/quote]

now do you see why they said that? it was totally political lowball. the chances of dean winning were so small, that his victory would have no choice but to be taken seriously. what the republicans were really trying to do in that statement was keep kerry at bay for a little longer. they wanted to see some mudslinging.

It's video with actual crowd noise in the recording, it certainly makes quite the difference.

I’ve heard this argument from a few different sources. It’s interesting.

Dean was in a room of screaming supporters when he made his infamous scream. He was enveloped in a wall of sound. Hundreds of people screaming. He matches the screams with his own. His scream is part of the overall sound.

He is screaming into a 58. The media takes the feed straight from the close mic. Why would they think to record the crowd? The mix is 95% Dean scream with a little leakage from the crowd.

Of course he sounds like a maniac. So would you if you were screaming at a Jesus Lizard show and someone sticks a mic right in your face. It’s like those Linda McCartney tapes taken straight off the board.

This is the first Democratic nomination to be lost to a bad mix.
