Reading these positive responses has given me a case of CSE(Cool Sister Envy).
My sister. The Martha Stewart of Gurnee. Maven of all that is perfect: perfect house, garden, kids, husband(subserviant). Her treatment of people is soley based on how they fit or don't fit her perfect asthetic.
I've seen her morph into a monster in seconds. She learned somewhere down the line that, if she screamed at people, they
could be bullied into giving her what she wants(karmic/religious cleansing every Sun. at Willow Creek Church).
Occasionally I'm stuck in the middle of this bullying. I'm the one who then gets screamed at, for trying to help.
If we have a family gathering, she will gush over kids for everything they do, endearing or mundane, and all but ignore mine. Her daughter picking up a toy and showing it to me is oh so precious and important, while my son *begs* for her attention after he learns how to swing by himself for the first time. My wife or I literally have to say:"Edward is trying to get your attention. Don't you hear him?" She is their "Godmother", btw.
When she calls, her son(5) almost always intercepts the line. She then leaves me talking to him for 10 minutes. No discipline, or telling him that it's impolite to interrupt. Because she can't disappoint her little prince. I've started to hang up when this happens(oops).
She's fucking creepy. She adores feux-country star Keith Urban. She has posters all over her office, which she shares with her husband(subserviant), and she spends probably a grand on concert tickets each year to see this blue-eyed junkie Jesus fill her carnal fantasy, dragging her family with her.
I just realized I could probably fill a book.
No way.
Oil and water.

I have a half sister that my mother was forced to give up for adoption when she was 18 - Ten years prior to having me.
I was 15 when we met for the first time.
She was brought up by hard line conservative catholics. We have absolutely nothing in common, and even my complete indifference for her feels obligatory.
I once took her out for dinner. A lovely thai restaurant by the beach. Once inside, she scoffed at the menu, and proclaimed that she only ate "Australian food". She was 30 years old.
What. The. Fuck.
I don't even know what Australian food is. Damper?
CRAP.

I have two sisters. They are both amazing women. Since i am the youngest, I bore the brunt of them when I was a kid, but now we are all grown up, we have lots of fun together and get along really well.
My eldest sister was my idol when I was young, and we have so so much in common. We work in the same line of work which rocks cos we can talk shop together and not have to deal with any of the Look I'm better than you bullshit. Just straight up conversations. She is also an amazing writer and photographer. We flat together and it's pretty sweet.
My other sister is a scientist/biologist and is studying. She is so wicked smart and is quite a genius. She is so humbling in her eccentric ways that sometimes leaves me confused. She loves her two gorgeous cats and is always sending me great photoshopped files of her cats and videos also!
Both of my sisters know the best out of anyone anywhere.

My sister is weird. Growing up she was MUCH more popular than I was, being small and adorable. Unfortunately, by the time we were in high school, she had fallen prey to the "mean girls" in her grade, who basically pushed her over the edge, and she had to transfer to a different school. The experience left her angry and frustrated - I guess i was lucky i was such a geek because I didn't have any similar experience. We'd never gotten along very well before then - I was very resentful of her cute ability to manipulate everyone around her - but by the time we were both in high school she was uninterested in talking to me and was openly hostile to everyone in our family. She gave up on classes, getting all D's her junior year, and became a stoned shadow of her formerly cute, carefree self. Luckily, the one thing she had going for her was dance, and now she's attending one of the most competitive ballet schools in the country - however, no one in my family knows if she's going to go over the edge again, and if she does she'll undoubtedly be working as a makeup lady in a mall for the next 30 years.
She is sweet I guess, but we really have nothing to talk about, nothing in common. I am academic and dorky, often hypersensitive. My sister is hot-tempered, parties at clubs every night, goes to see Rage Against The Machine, and has framed drawings on her wall of Mick Jagger, Bob Marley, and John Lennon - you know, the ones you can get from portrait artists on street cities and boardwalks.
As we get older, I feel more of an urge to "bond" with her, but there seems to be a lot of anger there, going way back, and I'm not sure if we will ever be close; we'll see though. Things chance.
NC, waffle of 8.

I could tweak her envelopes. Then she could tickle my pitch-bender. I'd take it slow on the attack, quick on the release. Then I'd make my low-frequency oscillator modulate her high-pass filter. Hopefully, she'd ram her sustain pedal in my input jack.
wait a minute...

My sister is amazing. She is one year older than me, is tiny and blonde and looks exactly like our mom and grandmother. She is an ob/gyn in Indianapolis and works her ass off. She has been married to an amazing guy for about two years now. I performed her wedding ceremony and it took all I had to keep from breaking down while looking at her smiling face as I recited the pronunciation.
When we were younger we were not very close at all but as soon as she left town to do her residency in Detroit we became very tight. She is always very perky, which is amazing considering the small amount of sleep she gets and bullshit she has to deal with at work sometimes. She is the only person that calls me Jonny, and I like it that way. You are one in a trillion, Tara Helene.
