I spent this morning dropping him from my fantasy teams and searching for an adequate replacement. But I need steals.

How about this: Does anyone have a compelling answer for why this guy was such hot shit in '03? His numbers weren't that great for a lead-off man then. So what gives? Was it just that he was the most pesky player on a very pesky team? Aside from greasy fast speed, what's his upside as a lead-off man?

It looks like I might owe $2 million to Greg Norman!

That's awesome. Greg's a nice guy, and he deserves the money.

Greg, will you accept a check?

Juan Pierre, it is worth $2 million to me to see you and your sorry team suffer. God, you and your team are horrible, and I hope that your terrible suffering continues.

This is a question that the Cubs front office (and Cubs fans) should have asked in November 2005 rather than May 2006.

It's a similar question to: "Can we get a piss-poor rightfielder for less than three years and $16 million?"

Cubs fans, I cannot believe that you continue to allow yourselves to be treated with such contempt by this inept organization and shameful ownership. Why do you keep coming back? Is it because you used to see Ryne Sandberg on cable? Is it the fond memories of Marla Collins-induced adolescent boners?

God, even Royals fans have some self-respect.

Roast slowly on a spit, Cubs fans.

If this is the kind of player the Cubs are looking for, I urge the front office to contact Brian Cashman, the general manager of the New York Yankees, with great haste. They could possibly obtain Womack himself, in exchange for Derrek Lee or Mark Prior, possibly.

Maybe the Cubs will trade Juan Pierre or Jacque Jones to the Yankees.

Or maybe the Yankees will try to pick up Torii Hunter.

Who knows?

Sure do.
That's some serious prank money.
Seriously.

Dear Brian Cashman:

The Oakland Athletics visit Yankee Stadium tonight. They bring with them a couple of different outfielders who would look fantastic in pinstripes.

How about Jay Payton! He's a former Red Sox! You guys love that shit!

Or Bobby Kielty! He has flaming red hair! You guys will love him!

Also worth considering: In his Pittsburgh Pirate days, Jason Kendall logged a few games in the outfield when he wasn't catching.

He would be a perfect fit! He is hard-nosed and gritty. An instant fan favorite! If he didn't feel he could catch a batted ball in the normal manner, he would assuredly dive for it headlong!

Please do this the Yankee way, Brian: take them all!

Thanks,
AJ

Yeah, it's cool that the Yankees are beating the Athletics' AAA squad at home.

It's also kind of cool to me that the likes of Randy Kiesler, Brad Halsey, and Chad Gaudin are holding the Yankee offense more or less in check.
