saw them a while back. the guy they were playing with coudn't, for whatever reason, make it.
They said they'd do a two hour set. When it was over, I said to myself "I thought they were going to do a two hour set."
they had, fact, played for two hour.
and I'm not usually good at standing looking at rock music for longish periods of time
not crap. captivating. not craptivating

I saw them in Eugene, Oregon and they ruled live. The guitar player re-created this huge solo from the last song on Feathers and it was amazing. They sounded awesome.

i have to pick up there other stuff, i only have feathers, which is great. i like his vocals, they lay perfect on top of all the lush guitars. Get Up On Down - great stoner jam. NC!

Been listening to their whole catalog. I still love Feathers, it's just different. I'm still with NC on the whole thing.

I guess NC but with maximum waffles. I like bits and pieces, the first track on feathers is good but a lot of the vocals make me think of the stone roses and that sort of thing. If the LPs I have buy them were stolen I wouldn't replace them.

not crap.
i first heard them when i was seeing six organs of admittance play. "shivering king" was playing between bands and i was blown away. i like all of their albums. the guitarist seems very talented to me. the shoegazery vocals get tiresome sometimes but those riffs are fantastic.
i left after 5 minutes of six organs. sound was fucking horrible.
track six, "good moanin", on shivering king is amazing.

I don't even notice the vocals, just the reverb. Dead Meadow's not crap.

Go see Dead Meadow live. I know exactly what Ty is talking about, and the singer/guitarist has made an obvious effort not to sound like a nasally prat and doesn't anymore. I can’t tell you how many times I turned to the folks I was at the show with and said “shit they only have one guitar” because, to my ears, it sounds just as lush as when they had two.

I first bought 'Feathers', which I love to death - voice sounds fine to me, along with everything else...
Then I recently went back and acquired 'Got Live If You Want It' - HOLEE SHITE - THESE RECORDINGS OF THIS SINGER'S VOICE ANNOY ME TO THE POINT OF INSANITY - I honestly don't know what the fuck is going on here... I don't know why a band would allow this to be released!?
Just sayin' to Ty Webb - I wonder if you heard the wrong record to make a judgement by...? (OR maybe you have already heard several, I dunno)
If I had heard 'Got Live If You Want It' first, I bet I would have never picked up another record from this band... god damn, I am confused.
Is it just that the guy can't "bring it" live with the vocals? Or was this a notoriously "off" night that got released as a live album anyway??
Seriously, I am confused and would like to know... god damn.
