I read something recently that said that about 12% of the population has sort of an allergic reaction to drugs like codeine (which is found in alot of painkillers), where the body doesn't have the ability to break it down to morphine. As a result, you get no positive effects, and can make you sick as a dog. My girlfriend falls into this category, and it renders about 80% of all painkillers useless.

I, however, do not. To me, vicodin is nice, but it has quite a bit of aspirin (or tylenol, depending on the brand?) in all the dosages (cept extra-strength, which is a rare find) and as a result, can make just about anyone feel like puking if you take more than 2 or 3 in a 6 hour time span.

My recommendation would be to get your hands on some percodan. It is fucking ace, IMO.

You're probably very close to precise with that first statement. I have a friend who always gets stomach aches and sometimes pukes if he takes Codeine, but he can blow oxycontin or vicodin and have no problem. He's the same kid who can't even take Pseudofed because it makes him grind his teeth.

You're also very right about the percodan/set.

Ah, Vicodin. My best friend and enemy.
Out of all the drugs I have done, which is pretty much all of them, the only thing that ever really got ahold of me were these little fuckers.
At one point in my life I was taking about 15 a day. Not just Vicodin...pretty much any prescription painkiller I could get my hands on. This went on for a few years, till all of a sudden I started having really bad problems with my hearing. They will do that eventually.
I said fuck that, stopped cold turkey and went thru a hellish withdrawl. I can't imagine getting off heroin would be much worse, puking and shitting constantly for weeks on end. Depressed as all hell.
I have slipped off the bandwagon a few times since, but it's never gotten as bad as it was back in the day. A few here and there on special occasions, when I see my old painkiller friends...etc...they are great for a long night of fucking, by the way....
My doctor friend tells me that there are 2 ways a human can be wired, basically. To one taking a vicodin does almost nothing, maybe makes them sleepy. To the other, it acts as a stimulant and gives a nice euphoric feeling....it's very hard for a person wired up the second way NOT to get hooked on em if they have access to them on the regular....
Man, I could go for one right now.....fucking pills....

I'm with Marsupialized on the dual nature of these little fuckers.

Taking ANY Tylenol, which is what most of these are loaded with, and alcohol at the same time can cause severe or even fatal liver damage for even people with healty functioning livers. And how many crap/not crap readers have perfect livers?

Even taking tylenol if you drink 2 drinks a week can fuck you up. Taking more than 4000 mg tylenol {(5&1/2) vicodin ES - the big ones 7.5/750 pills} in a 24 hour period is dangerous as well. The tylenol is the real killer here, but you could certainly also overdose quite easily- especially when mixing with other pharmies. Stranger things have happened.

Take my word for it and be careful with this shit. The liver (or life) you save could be your own.
