I've had to do some driving lately (a rarity as I don't own a vehicle), and I've been listening to Rome a bit. I'm surprised he's as successful as he is. Because I don't follow sports closely, it took me a while to catch his sarcasm.
And then he went on a rant about Paul Westerberg and my mind did a double-take for real.
There's a reductive line of thought about how professional sports channel social antagonism away from political awareness, etc, etc (I've heard people attribute this to Chomsky before). It's an asinine line of thought (if real), yet listening to sports radio this week I found myself turning to it. The vitriol and the level of analysis, etc, devoted to teams and leagues really does sound like nationalism and politics for grown-up children. Of course, politically oriented talk radio is even more retarded, but that's also the point.

26Saw him on Space Jam the other day. Really put him into perspective for me. I just hate high-intensity talk shows. These people are so bad with English. "I"m yelling to get your attention!" It's almost always because their viewpoints don't stand up on their own. Yelling as a journalistic approach is unbelievable.

I will agree that Mike and Mike in the morning are fantastic as well, but I do not get to listen to them as often as I do Danny Patrick and Keithypants Olbermann, so I will say that my preference at the moment and Dan and Keith, with an empatic not crap on Mike and Mike. Thank you for bringing this up.
