I, for one will not be ignoring it. I'll be downloading it and listening to it!

One of my favourite bands, playing my favourite album of theirs, recorded by my favourite engineer... no brainer.

Whether is was a success or not seems a moot point.

This hoary old chestnut has been churning around this board for gawd knows how long. Why is it interesting?

You can learn an awful lot more about recording with Steve Albini, art, life, and music from this board than from some not-up-to-code version of some old album.

In On the Killtaker is not some old album. It's one of the finest records of the past 20 years in my book. That makes it interesting.

If someone had a Steve recorded version of Spiderland, there'd be drool running down the screen of most people here's computer.

Loud drums are the last thing that Fugazi need, if you know what I mean...

Ha! Now that is nasty!

Come on, maybe it's just because the drums are always recorded badly... maybe Steve's Drum Sound TM will fix that...

It's not the sounds, it's the playing! Ugh! So...noncommittal in the hitting of the drums!

Actually it is really interesting.

It sounds like it was the band having trouble getting Guy's vocals right, more than anything wrong with Steve's recording approach. And drums do sound better than on the record, even though it's a rough mix. It actually sounds like Brendan is hitting with passion and grit. Arrangements aren't as well developed, but Good Cop sounds better than on the record.

What a shame, they didn't just wait, sort out the problems and go back to Steve.

Although, it's totally moot, because either way the record they ended up making is on of my favourite records of the past twenty years and by far my favourite Fugazi record.
