This is also true of swordfish and Chilean sea bass.

These fish are going away. This is a very, very sad thing.

Sweet butter and capers, I love fish. Just so goddamn much. I grew up on it and would eat tuna every day if the mercury levels weren't so high.

My best meal so far was in San Francisco. I was genially allowed to stuff my face with my dinner mates' plates full of goodness. I've never liked trout so much in my life. I also had my first raw oyster.

Yes, Sir! Brilliant on / with toast. I've got some of the garlic and pepper ones in the fridge just now.

Rabbit, I've heard you say this before, yet I've not found a worm in my sea bass yet... Sea bass is good because it has nice soft flakes. It goes well with rissotto if you pan fry it. We bought haddock from Safeway once and it was wriggling with worms...

Back to the old school. These are one of the tastiest fish treats you can have. Again, like the smoked mackerel, I like it with toast. Makes the kitchen smell though.

I'm sick of salmon... Who ever decided to farm it and make so much? I think its popularity is a result of it previously being the reserve of the rich. It is still classed as a luxury good. I personally think its bland unless it is smoked.

My cat currently gets fresh fish most days of the week. (This is ridiculous) she gets plaice, cod or coley which is cooked in the microwave and then chilled! My mum is mad.

Grilled kippers with buttery toast is the finest breakfast known to man.

Actually, maybe kedgeree is the finest breakfast known to man.

It's almost definitely one or the other...

Oh yes. Always brown bread toast though. It has to be.

Also one of my favourite fish dishes is smoker haddock/cod/whiting poached in milk and served with some of the milk on toast.

Fucking delicious.

I've spent the majority of my life living in towns/cities that border or are in Mexico, specifically the areas of Sonora and Baja California.

Most of these places have been coastal: San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos, La Paz, Guaymas, Ensenada, Mazatlan, Veracruz.

Living or spending extended amounts of time in these places has meant eating lots and lots of mariscos, a term used to describe a specific variety of Mexican seafood dishes. A few of my favorite examples:

-Taco de pescado (breaded fish taco; these have caught on and are enjoyed all over the West Coast now)

-Camarones al mojo de ajo (shrimp in a garlic/butter sauce)

-Pescado Veracruzana (whole fish cooked in a tomato/onion/green olive deliciousness)

-Ceviche con aguacate (Ground-up fish that is 'cooked' in lime juice, topped with avocado, and then spread over crackers, mixed with salad, etc.)

-Caldo de Siete Mares ("7 Seas Soup": a massive stew consisting of shellfish, squid, fish, etc.)

There are some okay places to eat this stuff where I live now, but the mariscos that you can get in Baja, or even Tucson (Taqueria Pico de Gallo, Mariscos Chiuaua, etc.) are like an abyss of pleasure that one would gladly spend one's life trying to eat one's way out of.

I am a salmon hater. I am a shrimp hater.

I like tuna in all its preparations, and I love lobster.

Mussels Fra Diavalo (ONLY occasionally.......)

Calamari........

Generally I don't eat fish much outside of sushi, italian appetizers and ceviche. I wish I was more of a fan, but for some reason I've just never really liked fish. this thread has inspired me to try it.
The cat with the toast, once it's free in the air, will float at its cat-toast equilibrium point, where butter repulsion forces and cat forces are in balance.
