Ryan,

Speaking of west of the Missippi, did you know that the Payette River system was named after Francois Payette, a French-Canadian trapper whose exploits with the local Blackfoot indians are infamous?

Ciao,

Hello Brad. You mean the same Francois Payette that who was put in charge of Fort Boise in 1818!?!? Amazing, but I am unclear on his exploits specifically. Can you explain?

there's a place out of cherry hill called Flying Fish (mostly english/belgian style ales) that i hear people rave about. I've had their extra pale ale and esb ale and i don't like them very much.

ah, i've had this stuff and i agree. i didn't hate it, but it wasn't that great (i got an assortment of mostly ales and a stout). i'll have to look for some of the other stuff.

I invite everybody to come to Ft. Collins in the summer and get a straight-from-the-brewey Loft. This kills Fat Tire and every other New Belgium beer except 1554 (154, that's almost your screen name!) and Blue Paddle. It still beats those beers, it just doesn't kill them. Coming home from a long summer day of work, popping open a Loft, and turning on the previous night's Baseball Tonight gives me a huge boner. New Belgium is my favorite company of any kind. They treat their employees like royalty and utilize (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!) the wind.

I recently won a case of beer from Flying Dog Ale on a local sports radio station. I got a variety pack with an Amber Ale, India Pale Ale, and some sort of wheat beer, among others. Anyway, I like this stuff. Anybody had this Flying Dog?

Also, for Christmas my mother-in-law got me a Beer of the Month Club membership. For three months, I get twelve beers from two breweries, three of each kind of beer. I got some stuff from Bluegrass Brewing Company. These Kentuckians, they make good stuff!

Congratulations, Chicago. Hopefully you'll eventually get some of the five or six New Belgium beers superior to Fat Tire.

I also tried a six pack of 1554 when I was in Arizona and it was really good. I might take you up on that Ft. Collins trip at some point, maybe if I get to go cross country again soon.

As for Flying Dog. This is another gem of a brewery! The first I found of their beers was at The Party Source just over the Ohio/Kentucky border. I picked up "Snake Dog" and "In Heat Wheat" both of which were more than just good beers. In November I went down to my mom's place in Savannah Georgia and I was very excited to find that they had six packs of "Flying Dog Pale Ale" and "Tire Scratch" so her fridge is nicely loaded for my next trip down there.
