I hate this music. Their main influence is obviously Metallica and not even older more palatable Metallica, they seem to be going after corporatized, formulaic garbage era Metallica. They make watered down, middle of the road hard pop music by entering the key ingredients (bad creative facial hair, a wall of Marshall stacks, legs in a horseback stance, Celine Dion melodies) into a hit machine (top 'producer', a thousand hours of protools edits, a building full of compressors, and a million dollars worth of marketing) and I have a suspicion that they've stollen Mutt Lange's hit machine, the one he used on Michael Bolton.

The only redeeming quality of this band is that they seem genuinely excited about playing their music. I saw the lead singer on Much Music a few years ago and he was totally pumped about what he was doing and seemed to really enjoy himself. He also challenged Matthew Good to a fist fight once and god knows Matthew Good could use a beating.

funny thing is, that i used to work with the drummer of default. fat little danny he washed dishes at a restaraunt i used to work at, he actually had good taste in music! and he could drum! what thte fuck happend to the poor boy? man and my best friend is a childhood friend of the backs new drummer dan adair. hes a good drummer too. selling himself short for the nicklebux. oh well some people just want to be session musicians. i guess i cant fault them for that.

Didn't Chag Krueger get arrested for a DUI, and furthermore tried to defend his actions? My friend and I visiting Vancouver saw this headline in the paper the morning we were heading back to Seattle (after seeing the Nomeansno/Zu show), at the end of this past June.

That's a major "CRAP" for that alone... without listening to a note.

(Not that bands I like or have liked don't have their shortcomings and blatant lack of certain social responsibilities, but for the frontman of a band to go "well, LOOK, man!" after something like this is really heinous.)
