Recommend me some metal!
24I'll second Kerble's Sepultura recommendation for Beneath the Remains, it's their only album of theirs that I really liked. Mostly, becuase its seemed so raw compared to a lot of metal at the time.
I was in a record shop a few months ago and someone was playing Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious by Carcass. I hadn't heard it in about fifteen years, but still sounded fresh.
Grindcore-tastic!

25meshuggah, mastodon, sepultura are all good. bands like Strapping Young Lad and Opeth seem like a good mix of old and new school stuff. but i don't know.
i never liked iron maiden.
slayer is about as METAL as it gets. Lamb of God are big.
meshuggah, though, they have weird guitars and time signatures.

Oddly enough, I walked into work listening to Carcass this morning. So count that as a 'seconded'.
Butchered at Birth by Cannibal Corpse is getting regular rotation on my iPod at the moment, as is Napalm Death's 1989 Peel Sessions.
