For vintage Keitel, I would rather watch Mean Streets or James Toback's underrated film Fingers.

I just saw this a few weeks back. Definitely an excellent movie with vintage Keitel performance. I heard there was a recent French film based on Fingers.

It is also among the first films where Harvey is shown naked more than once. I wonder if he writes that into his contracts. The Piano was classic naked Keitel. It neither detracts n'or adds to his body (sic) of work.

Something of a Harvey Keitel self-parody, and funny. Not crap.

There was a stretch there in the early to mid 90s where it seemed like you couldn't make a movie unless he was in it. It was a good stretch!

Besides the excellent Harvey Keitel performance, I find this like many of Ferara's movies heavy handed and a chore to sit through. His exploitation early work, I find the most enjoyable.

Ketiel always worked best with Scorsese, they need to team up again!

Fingers is VERY underrated, glad other's here know about it.

For a long time I've had fun imagining a pinball machine based on this movie.

The scene with the girls in the car is like a direct inversion of a man's brain. The most sublimated thoughts and feelings are right out on the surface, and surface niceties are submerged completely. It's horrible and brilliant.

I was also going to mention this--some sort of Keitel quirk, he also does it at the end of the dogs coming from the reservoirs, when the cops are busting into the warehouse. I think it's effective, but sorta funny at the same time.
