None of this "heart attack" / overdose / choking on own vomit crap that has made rock stars' premature deaths such a dull phenomenon.

Jaco actually managed to go out with a bang by pissing off a bouncer so much that the guy kicked his face in.

Good goin'.

not to mention, the bouncer only served 4 months in jail before being released back into the real world.

My guess: The Man was probably grateful to the bouncer for the service he performed for society.

Thought you were just bullshitting your way through this...but "bloo-wee," that's clearly a bent harmonic.

bloo-wee is a slid harmonic, dude -- on a fretless you can slide them.

plungg is that sound when takes his plucking hand and smacks the fretboard in a downsliding motion. i saw a live video in which he solos over a loop of that sound.

buh-bip-boop-plungg buh-bip-boop-plungg buh-bip-boop-plungg

I play the bass and I don't like the "style"... I think he did a lot of damage to the music.

sure pretty much everything he did after the age of 23 was self indulgent toss, but I don't think it makes sense to say Jaco was a damaging presence in music. He may have encouraged more bass idiots to try to play shitty jazz solos, but those people were idiots to begin. If Jaco never happened they'd have been ripping off the guy from Level 42 instead.

I defer to your expertise, captain. But I've seen harmonics bent until they damn near sang soprano, so don't come all high and mighty with me. Dude.

I found an Ovation Magnum bass - factory fretless. !!! I would've bought it, but I had other junk to buy. It was still bad azz...

I played stuff from Heavy Weather on it...Not very well, either. It was sounding good, though.
