call me dumb but I never caught that one before///

Or, similarly:

Ian Faith, Tour Manager: "The Boston gig's been canceled."

Unknown member of Spinal Tap: "Oh shit."

Faith: "I wouldn't worry about it though... it's not a big college town."

The drummer that died in a "bizarre gardening accident"

and the interview after groupie night where they're all sporting cold sores.

One of the more obvious ones but I piss my pants everytime: when his pod doesn't open until the end of the song.

After a recent big-screen viewing, 2 small scenes do it for me:

-Ian Faith berating a swishy hotel manager, played magnificently by the guy who played Mr. Bentley on "The Jeffersons."

Faith says something really crude in reference to Bentley's swishiness, to which Bentley responds by haughtily exclaiming, "I'm as God made me, Sir!"

-Ian Faith (incredible name) berating St. Hubbins' lady friend, just before she takes over as Spinal Tap's manager: "And you dress like a bloody Australian's nightmare!"

Basically, after seeing it again, Ian Faith emerged for me as the real star of the movie.

There's too many to pick just one.

Did anybody ever notice how messed up the whole Stonehenge thing is? Like, she erroneously builds it precisely as detailed on the napkin, yet it looks absolutely nothing like the one on the napkin? On the one Nigel draws, the top piece doesn't extend even to the ends of the side pieces, yet on the one she builds, the top piece extends past the ends of the sides.

She didn't even come close to building it like the napkin called for. HA!

Maybe Jazz Oddysey, that might be my favorite single scene. Or "it can't be played. No, don't even look at it!" Or when David's on the bus, wearing the sweater she made for him, and he's gonna take it off to go hang out with the guys. Or the crab face for Derek. There's just way too many.

Right.. well now I'm stuck on YouTube watching all these and came across this gem.
I love Nigel's 'guitar face' just as they think they've found their way to the stage.. but not quite. And then theres Derek's line as they are getting directions from the guy in the boiler room..

Guy: Go out this door and turn right.. and then theres a little jog..

Derek: Well, we haven't got time for that..

Yes.. too many great moments.

The part were they're interviewing Ian and he's talking about why he carries that cricket bat everywhere. There is a montage of him threatening people with it and destroying stuff. He busts the screen on a T.V. and it blows up and the look on Derrick Smalls face as he's sitting on the hotel room floor a few feet from it breaks me up every time.

"Well, I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I wasn't under such heavy sedation..."

Also love the Artie Fufkin outtakes on the DVD where he's straining to get the jaded Tap to a radio station interview. There's a point where he stutters for like five seconds that absolutely KILLS me. And then of course he ends up smashing an egg over his forehead in utter desperation. "Look what you're doing to a man!"

The obscure ones:
Paul Shaffer as Artie Fufkin cracks me up when he repeats Nigel's name.
And during the Jazz Oddysey they cut to the crowd and one guy is sitting, raising a big "thumbs down".

Incidentally Tony Hendra (Ian Faith) did a great John Lennon circa 1970 on a National Lampoon record. "Magical Misery Tour." He basically turned the Jann Wenner interview with Lennon (an inspirational rant of post-Beatle vitriol) into a great song.
