Total Crap. I can't believe people are actually doing this and PAYING for this. I can not imagine anyone actually paying for fake goods to have in your fake life.

However, there are second life programs that kids, as young as 3-4, are playing. Therefore, it scares the living shit out of me that these young ones are being conditioned into thinking that this is normal and acceptable. Thus, in the future, making this a popular thing to do. Shudder.

Kind of like kids being conditioned to like waterparks and pre-fab entertainment that is devoid of any real content.

Sweden has set up an Embassy in Second Life.

Second Life is a lot more than just a waste of time and this board is not comparable. For starters you don't spend any money here. Also, you don't have a virtual home, wife, cars, etc.. A great article about Second Life I read a while back in the the Wall Street Journal:

Using a forum is ostensibly similar for some folks.

You create a persona, dress it up and spend hours pretending to be that guy. The more you post the more 'experience' you gain. I think there's a few people on the PRF playing this forum like an MMORPG!

i only heard of this last week, actually after an episode of law and order svu about something like second life. i looked online to see if this sort of stuff really existed and happened upon second life. sadly i was intrigued because i like the sims 2 a lot. heh. so i downloaded it and played for a few hours until i realized that i would have to interact with real people, then it just became super, super creepy and i deleted it off my hard drive.

second life is creepy.

I read about it and you can buy shit and sell shit, drive around, fuck, talk and whatever else...it dosen't say anything about murder...can you murder other players?
If you can murder other characters I might give it a shot
