ah, yes, i still have your change!! the problem with sending me to the bar is that i am the world's worst person at getting served. bar staff go out of their way to ignore me. and then i ran into a gringo fan once i'd got the blasted drinks! i couldn't miss an opportunity to have my ego massaged. couldn't find you after that, so i did the honourable thing - necked the lot. i'll give you a tenner when i see you!

Mr Moore does conjuring tricks now? I'm amazed that with all this 'other people' cash sloshing around in your pockets that you could get your trousers out the door. Ker-ching!

Still, coming from Thurston Moore that is a richly ironic question.

lol  I'm surprised you got any change from a tenner at the bar though, Butlins do seem to like money. Still, I'm not sure any of the staff there really knew what they were letting themselves in for.

You just reminded me - I can't recall who saw this, but apparently one of the bar staff quit on the spot! I'm afraid this tale is second hand, but it runs that while this party was waiting for drinks at the bar, one of the servers threw down her towel, declared that this wasn't the job she signed up for, and marched straight off the job! I saw others first hand covering their ears and yelling for the noise to stop.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I wasn't even supposed to be there: My band were supposed to be on tour but it was cut short because the drummer in the act we were supporting got his cockix trapped in a van door or something so I was able to get a last minute standby type ticket and spend a glorious two days with my loved ones and bestest friends.

Unfortunately I didn't see a huge amount of stuff as I couldn't make it till later on Saturday, plus I was a little transit van lagged from doing a week of shows around the uk and having to peg it back to London to put in some hours at work so i spent quite a bit of time snoozing or staring blankley into space.

However, Sonic Youth were the best I've ever seen them, Deerhoofs Chris Coen materialised as a moth during their saturday set and Dinosaur played all the good stuff. It made me all in love with pop music all over again. It was also well worth going to work on minus 4 hours sleep Monday morning so we could catch the stooges. Yes, why am I still awake?

The queues where pretty lame and I think there are some valid arguments for a rebate on the ticket price - 'spesh if you wanted to see MC5. However, I think these problems were unforseen and I reckon that Barry Hogan and Co. will have this sorted for next time. They also did a bang up job of persuading the bands to play extra sets. Plus I wouldn't have seen the 'hoof who are my fav band otherwise.

To be honest I was quite disappointed with both the Slint and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's/Mudhoney/Charles Manson weekends in terms of line up. The Thurston Moore event really re-affirmed my faith in the whole concept.

(Oooh, and I got to give my poxy album to some cool people including Matt Gringo.)

Anyway...

negitave approach was the best thing i've ever seen... DON'T MISS THEM IF THEY EVER PLAY AGAIN.

wolf eyes SLAYED. "all tomorrows players!"

stooges? amazing...

matts and eye? yes... new blockaders? fantastic... the dudes from flipper were hilarious, even though they were annoyed at the all night chalet destroying party in the wolf eyes house on night one, and then again next door in chalet #6...

the second sonic youth set was shredding... the 16 bitch pile up girls rule... sleeping is totally overrated... pretty much everything i saw all weekend was fantastic, and i haven't partied like that since i was 22...

oh and tips to bands playing this festival!!
find out if there are any traveling sound men and find them to mix your band!!!
the local sound men were really hard working and great, but they did not know how to mix noise/weird music! after hearing flipper (huge/silly "festival" kick drum and pitchshifted bass??!?! where is the guitar?) aaron and i decided we had to mix some bands... i dare say it made a difference... i'm glad i could tickle your nose rashiedgarrison!
