A couple months ago, my band was playing at an engagement party for a couple that works at a crummy venue here, and the party was held there. All night long, we sat through the groom's band (think like Stone Temple Vomits or some shit). After an hour set, we began to set up because we were told by the groom that was our slot. Well, the other band that hadn't played yet decides that they are going to muscle us out of the slot...after all it's just me, my girlfriend, and our friend and they were all meaty meats. We told them no fucking way, we get 3 songs into our 7 song set (approx. 25 minutes had it been in its entirety), and for the first time that night people are standing in front of the stage dancing, rocking out, basking in glitter and balloons, we had even gotten the blessed couple on stage for the first song so they could be the centerpiece for the celebration that was meant to be our set...for them. The meaty incubus band is mad dogging me the whole time we're playing, so I do a little chuck berry dance for them and smile...kind of in a "remember fun?" sort of spirit. They rush to the very amateur soundmen and tell them to cut our vox, and they do, but we keep playing. Then the groom runs on stage and pushes me off the mic and shuts off my V4. "You guys are being DICKS!!!" he yelled. Everything got quiet and akward, the whole place just stared at him in disbelief, and I pointed in his face and laughed. Coincidentally, I think the actual wedding is happening tonight, at the same venue. Who thinks I should run up and push his greasy ass when he's about to kiss the bride? I feel so sorry for her.
