They do respond somewhat differently with some pedals, but not necessarily adversely. In a lot of cases better. Having a hotter signal makes a lot of things sing. I've noticed one compressor I often use as a boost/sustain doesn't sound as nice, and a cheapo signal boost I've been using sounds bad, but in general, it's been an easy adjustment.

that's cool. I want to try these someday.

So has anyone tried the Alumitone humbucker version? I went ahead and just ordered them cause they look really cool and I'm just experimenting. I need new pickups in my Telecaster Deluxe RI anyway since they have a terrible squeal due to no being potted and I figure these should be pretty quiet anyway. ;-)

Ok, I just got my Alumitone Humbuckers in and these things are not going to work in my Telecaster Deluxe! They are fucking too small and not wide enough to fit in the pickguard assembly. They look like they are barely wide enough to pickup all the strings. Man am I pissed off because there really isn't a disclaimer telling you the size or anything like that.

No, I got the humbuckers but I just realized that it's just gotta be the fact that the Telecaster Deluxe pickups are just bigger than normal pickups! I just compared the Alumitone to the humbucker on my Standard Fat Strat and it's just about the same size. I guess I'll be putting one of the Alumitones in that guitar instead. So I'm not completely disappointed. I will get to check out the pickup still.

There you go people, the Alumitones won't fit a Telecaster Deluxe without getting a custom made pickguard assembly.

Their Strat set won't even fit a Strat without first hacking up the pickguard.

Just to reiterate: you can't use these pickups and standard pickups in the same guitar. They work differently, so it's all or nothing. I'm not sure what, exactly will happen, though, so please feel free to experiment.

And if you only using one I'd recommend putting it in the the neck position. I set a friend's guitar up like this and it sounds great. Looks great, too: 1 pickup, one knob.
