I love my PX-100s, but these Grados look interesting.

Interesting indeed. Anyone use these? I love Grado's turntable cartridges (the Platinum in particular), but...well, how do these compare to the Sony 7506?[/quote]

I use a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M30's when using headphones at home. When out and about, I wear a set of Sennheiser earbuds (some model which I forget right now).

Also: Apple iPod earbuds= crap on a shortcake

The px-100s are nice. Decent quality at a low price. I really don't understand how anyone can stick with the stock crap that comes with a discman, mp3 player, etc.

The Grados I had for home use bled, and thus were annoying to other people (when they were around.)

I got a pair of Sony earbuds for the iPod and not only are they cheap ( about $12) but they sound a hell of a lot better than the Apple earbuds and are not white.

I have had a pair of Denon AH-D550's for home recording for a long time, maybe 8 years or so? I like them pretty well. They fit on my small head easily. They might even be DJ headphones, I dunno.

I've never spent more than $15 on a set of headphones, and I have gone through maybe 10 sets in the last 5 years. I typically just take the old ones that my friends don't need and use them until they break. This, obviously, is a shitty way to experience non-shitty music. I like the MDR-V6's because everyone seems to say they last forever and sound incredible, which is all I want. I just don't know if it's worth it to spend $70 (about $40 more than I want to) on a quality headphone if I'm only going to be using it in my Walkman, and occasionally in the laptop or straight out of my guitar amp. I've also been looking into the lower end AKG, Sennheiser, and Grado lines, but I have no idea which to choose as I don't have the opportunity to hear any of them before buying.

So, yes, any recommendations would be appreciated.

And to pretend to divert this back onto the topic, I am stuck with this insipid behind-the-ear affair that I somehow got at Radio Shack for $2. The price was obviously mis-marked, but it's not like anyone gives a shit about Radio Shack anyway so the employee just pretended not to notice. They have miraculously not broken, though it's horrifying to imagine them sounding any more terrible.

There was a set of Radio Shack headphones...$25.00, typical deals...that Bill Porter swore by back in the 90's. I bought and used a pair for awhile - until I drunkenly destroyed them, anyway. They didn't sound good, but they were pretty accurate, I think...honest to a fault. Of course, they replaced them with some newer model with hyped low end and crappified distorto-drivers.

Good for checking recordings. Not good for I-pods/laptops/etc. $25.00. I love those deals...

I have a pair of Shure e-2 ear-buds that I'va had for a year, I have liked them until recently, there seems to be some sort of interruption in the cable. I cant tell where its isolated but often when i move about the signal cuts out.

Is there a reasonable way to fix this? If not, is there a decent quality ear-bud/earphone that has been found to be durable?

I was recently given a pair of Pioneer HDJ-1000s. Not bad for a mid-ranged pair of DJ headphones. My other pair are Sennheiser 570s. They are the bottom line of that series, very flat. Good for mixing and listening to music, no frills. Also, the most comfortable headphones ever. That series was built to cup your ears, not squash them.
