Lots of shooting wounded soldiers in the face, though, and the interrogations of Mercedes or the stuttering soldier were way beyond what network TV will show. No responsible parent should expose a kid under 15 to Pan's Labyrinth, but I don't doubt that a lot of irresponsible parents don't know the violence of the video games out there ( or care ).

I know, but can we try and break that cycle? Sounds like you're saying that the kids today are a lost cause so we should let them see everything.

I think some of you fellas are forgetting how disturbingly violent a lot of those old fairy tales used to be.

Film is more visceral than granny telling a story to the kids by the bedside but kids then and now love hearing about all the violent shit.

Any kid (who's not one of them there crying pussies Marsupialised was just on about) over 12 at least would be fine with this movie I reckon.

More than likely. I snuck into theaters to see Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was younger than 12, and look how well I turned out.

Parents shouldn't bring kids under 12 to Pan's Labyrinth, but if kids are motivated to sneak into some subtitled art flick, good for them.

It should have been called "Spain: 1944."

Nah. My dad let me watch Evil Dead when I was 5. Never did me any harm. Oh. apart from murdering a classmate the next day at school with a pencil.

Funtastic. Not crap in the slightest. Captain Vidal is such a great, evil character. It's been awhile since I've wanted such harm done to someone on screen. I think maybe since whatever Adam Sandler movie it was that I saw last.

I liked how Del Toro could've taken the easy way out but decided not to. Props to him and the makers of this NOT CRAP movie.

THIS IS NOT for kids, tho I could see how parents might mistakenly take them to it, as I was under the impression it was a relatively harmless dark fairy tale, a' la Tim Burton. nope.
