Rather than being inherently dishonest, I think he has been shaped by the elements of the modern political environment. It seems to me that no matter how idealistic he was when elected PM, he could never acheive or maintain those ideals. On the whole I think he's done a pretty good job. Foreign policy aside he has led the country pretty well without making too many big mistakes. He is normally a thoughtful, humble man and he genuinely understands the the needs and wants of the ordinary Britain within the scope of UK and Europe. If Iraq hadn't happened he would have a completey different profile from the one he has now.
Compared to the ones I remember, Thatcher & Major he's been a great PM. You wouldn't have liked to live in the UK (especially Scotland) under Thatcher.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blair gets away with it, because he's the master of getting away with it. He's a covert aggressive and so are his friends.

Now with this bullshit with him and Ruth Kelly wanting to treat gay people like Blacks were 50 years ago... Well I'll never vote for another Labour government as long as either of those two are in cabinet.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'll vote Tory next election if I have to. Labour's so far right that even Cameron's cuddly Conservatives are more appealing.

I rather liked it, and I thought it rather evenhanded in its portrayal of Blair - he came across as a political maneuverer with a desperate need for approval/affection, clearly in over his head.
That was pretty consistent across the film. Everyone was portrayed sympathetically, but certainly not positively - the royals, f'rinstance, were quite human but also bitchy and completely out of touch with everything ever.
Also, maybe it was just me and my girlfriend, but wasn't there some seeeeeerious homoerotic subtext between Blair and his scriptwriter in that?

The Queen dull, not at all. To be fair, the
Queen was about a compact series of events surrounding Diana's death- whatever Blair is or isn't apart from his maneuvering of the royal family then was not the subject of the film.
I saw The Queen this last weekend. It was quite a good film, considering I could care less about the English monarchy, Princess Diana, and Tony Blair. Helen Mirren was excellent as Queen Elizabeth II.
