Curses is maybe my favorite record of the year. Rocks in head crushing fashion, but still is fun as all hell. And it sounds like a group of guys who really love being in the band they're in, which is always nice. Still would like to hear what it could've sounded like if it had been recorded at Electrical, though.

Champion Rabbit wrote:I was listening to the album a couple of days ago when it occurred to me that they sound quite a lot like Limp Bizkit.

The 'Small Bones, Small Bodies' song on their Myspace sure does.

Whoever said this band and t'other Post-McLusky group are missing their other half was quite correct. These songs don't engage me at all. I am disappointed.

Curses is nearly as good as The Difference Between You And Me...

As far as debut albums go, it certainly kicks the shit out of My Pain And Sadness....

Fuck y'all haters.

I'm glad this finally made it to the US. I liked it enough on the first listen, but it gets better and better with each spin. Plague of Onces might be my favorite off this.

"real men hunt in packs" = great, "fingers become thumbs" = great, the rest of the album = mclusky w/the force of the hooks undermined by annoying synths and boring new wave interludes. i'm disappointed that it kind of sounds like the horrible canadian band billy talent at times. still, falkous and eggleston can stir up a great racket every once in a while.

Not crap with waffles for sounding like their old bands. We were practicing in the room next to them a couple of months ago and because of the weird wiring in my guitar and the corner of the room in which I was standing we got a pretty good listen through my amp. Good, but very much plowing the same furrow as Mclusky. Falkous was wearing flares.

Not quite as good as mclusky but certainly not crap. Their album did take two or three listens to really grab me. I wish they'd got Steve to record it though, would really have been like having a fourth mclusky album then.

Shooting At Unarmed Men however... I've got real mixed feelings about them. Their best stuff is great but some of their songs really suck. Yes Tinnitus was pretty good but listening to Soon There Will Be... feels like hard work.
