I'm off to go try and return this shitty Sunn O))) abomination and get something worthwhile. I bought it on a misinformed impulse on Sunday, and now I must DEMAND SATISFACTION and seek VENGEANCE upon the record store which stocks this drivel.
I want something I've not heard before. Preferably with experimental noises, ambiance, something beautiful. I can't stop listening to the Melvins, AMM, and early Sonic Youth--this may be a basis for recommendations. Obscure jazz or math rock would also be great.
Tar? Uzeda? Art Ensemble of Chicago? AN UNFORESEEN VARIABLE?(!)
I am clearly an idiot and need guidance. I don't want to get another piece of shit with 12 pages of an upside-down tree as the 'liner notes'. Incentive: I'm still young so I may find the record that changes my life. It's been too long since I first heard Loveless, you know?
Or you could list albums you'd like to shag.
PS - My apologies if anyone here is associated with the production of this record.
Whitehouse, DNA, Khanate?
Just kidding, don't buy any music by these bands.
00 Void, the Grimm Robe Demos and Flight of the Behemoth are all OK Sunn albums, but the rest of their stuff is a joke. Even those records are essentially living off someone elses ideas, but still good if you've got a good sound system and the patience to let the doom sink in.
Boris is an endless archive of other peoples music played again through a japanese filter, some is awesome. They've definitly stepped up from their doom laden drone and fuzzed noise attacks with some of their more recent stuff, but they seem to release an album every four or five minutes so who can keep up.
Check out The Punks and Burning Star Core for utter crap and Metal Music Machine by Jazkamer, maybe Flying Saucer Attack or Fennesz?
The Residents might change your life in the most tiny way like Tago Mago. I could get raped with a pike for saying this but I quite enjoy some M83 and a fan of loveless could enjoy small amounts too...but that could be wrong. Um, 1 mile north and labradford.
