i sampled a track from the isis "panopticon" cd not too long ago and it turned out ok, once i get my other computer hooked up i'll post a link.

ive been wanting to throw some melt banana samples into beats, just for some of that, uh, "noise".... the right snippet, especially if passed through a resonant filter or feedback delay, could probably make for a good sound in a beat. obviously not a central motif but more of an add-on, probably to only come in once.

back in the 80s I remember thinking that Black Sabbath had a great untapped ocean of riffs and beats, but I don't think most of their stuff would fit the contemporary style very well. one time when I was playing around with a loop/sampler thing I made a back beat out of N.I.B. mixed with the "April shower" song from "Bambi". it was dope, chuzz.

you could also do worse than sampling old 20s and 30s rebetika music. a lot of the original songs are about pimps and cocaine anyway so there's some kind of continuity
