Johnny, for such fine comments, you truly deserve to be classed as "old skool." Salut and all that.

When "A Storm in Heaven" came out I immediately pigeonholed/ignored the Verve simply because I found that title to be so utterly wank-pretentious I couldn´t possibly image the music could be any less so. I think I also saw a couple of "tortured-soul Ashcroft" photos from that period that only served to confirm my suspicion that this band must be a total wankathon.
But sometime around 2004 or so, i gave up my preconceptions and checked out "Storm". Turns out I was wrong.
One of the very few times my bullshit detector hasn´t served me well, but i´m grateful in this instance. There is some excellent music there.

YES! It's been in my top three for 10+ years. Try and get your hands on a good live copy of "The Sun the Sea," or find a copy of the extremely rare live LP Voyager. The record is hundreds $$ these days, so best find a free download. You will enjoy it...
