I don't admire his commitment to "the ruse" at all. I would rather it be true he is not taking us along for a ride at all. Creating a character that polarizes people and causes your audience to question the validity of your art is, in my opinion, the act of a dishonest and insecure man.

If it's all an act, who's the audience? He doesn't appear to be a fool, yet surely the only people who would pay enough attention to him to be aware of his 'act' (if that's what it is) are fools. Is a performance intended only for fools a performance worth performing?
