Yeah I probably spoke a little to soon.I'm also using a budda phatbass tube overdrive, I used to use it on my bass rig but it's equally strong on guitar. If you get a chance I would strongly suggest one. P.S. I just found out that thier out of production.

skinny honkie wrote:So anyway, I ordered one, it turned up three weeks later, and it was dead. It works in the bypass position, but not when switched on. I made sure I had my input and output the right way round (input left, output right), and replaced the battery, checked the battery connector (a noted issue on a few pedals by Chuck), checked my cabling, my amp, my guitar....
It is dead. Dead dead dead. I emailed
chuckcollins@prodigy.net, but there was no reply. I emailed him a week later, no reply. I sent him a slightly testy third-strike email yesterday, and he replied. I had told him that I'd tested it with a new battery, and in his reply he asked me if I'd tested it with a new battery....hmmm. Not so good. However, he said I could send it back for testing, for which he wouldn't charge me....hmmm. Not so bad.
I just want this thing up and working asap because I'm doing some recording soon, the studio is booked, and I'd like to use the pedal. I've offered to do the work myself if it'll speed things up, but I haven't heard back from him yet.
So I dunno. I have a dead/brand new pedal here which I'm keen to play with, and by all accounts they're quite good, but my experience has left me hesitant to recommend them so far, at least from the perspective of support, if not quality control. I do have to say that the build quality left a bit to be desired, the aluminium chassis had lots of small (CONDUCTIVE) aluminium flakes in it from the self-tapping screws used to hold it together....I don't mind rough kit at all, but I like that kit to work.
We'll see tho - he might come thru with a good response, in which case all will be forgiven - the ball's in his ballsack. Watch this space, I'll update as it progresses.
hmmm, see i ordered one almost three months ago and it still hasn't arrived. despite emails being sent back and forth there doesn't seem any concern on his side, despite the fact a friend i know ordered his weeks after mine and recieved it ages ago.
your comments are hardly filling me with joy.

I don't know anything about US consumer law, but assuming you've send more than a few emails, and have a receipt for your purchase, if you paid via credit card you could dispute the charges and at least recoup your outlay...
Not to mitigate him treating you like crap or anything, but I get the impression he's a one-man band, and not being particularly well organised with it. If he's just gonna be a jerk and ignore your emails/calls, then do his other customers the service of letting them know on his ebay feedback.
Steve! Whats that new Pussy Fuzz Prototype like - is it better than waiting three months for "Chuck Collins" to not send a paid-for perc?

I have the "Harmonic Annihilator" by Rock N Roll Workshop. Made in Atlanta by Clay, who happens to be a buddy of Kevin from EGC. He doesn't claim it to be a clone, but merely inspired by the original Percolator. In any case, it's amazing, and definitely not leaving my pedalboard. A lot more tonal range than the percolator, so I'm told. It can get (somewhat) bassier if you need it, though still not crazy bass. I love it!

four months in waiting now for the chuck collin's clone, three months since it was supposedly sent.
i had to pester him like crazy to even consider the fact that the item had gone missing. even after 2 and a half months it was still being put down to postal strikes.
today's email was the best by far; telling me that i should contact my postal authority and have them initiate a search for the item. they rejected that claim completely and told me i should never have been told that (overseas missing mail and missing mail in general must always have the sender initiate searches/claims).
time to cut my losses and demand a refund?

I'll sell someone my Chuck Collins Percolator clone. It gets no usage whatsoever, still just like new. Not my cup of frilly tea.
Make me an offer. Paid $185 months ago, used a handful of times.
