hmmm, strange that this has come along now while i'm learning "girls on film" for a covers band. probably the most "interesting" bass part that i'm doing at the moment.

Always liked this band - Seemed like they TRIED to be political, and to push the limits of pop music.

CRAP, but I really, really like the first two records.

On the second volume of the Kiss-ology DVD set, there's a bit of Paul Stanley stage patter that mentions "Doo-ran Doo-ran." Paul Stanley is saying this in 1987, I think. Nice.

Edit: I should also mention that I much prefer Kiss to "Doo-ran Doo-ran," though not necessarily Kiss from 1987.

There are far worse bands from the era than DD. I like a few of the songs, and it's not their fault that they (the band with talent) spawned so many shitty, vapid bands and flavored the entire next phase of video (and I mean commercials too). Actually I guess it is their fault about the video part.

First two albums are great, just listen to those bass lines.

Then they put out shit for years, only to record Ordinary World in the 90's.

Overall Duran Duran get a NOT CRAP.

I've always wondered if John Taylor was really playing those parts, or if it was some session guy, because yeah, they are very good. Never seen them live, so I wouldn't know.
