I actually love the seaweed and the rice. I just don't like the raw protein. I bite into it and it doesn't succumb to my teeth. Then I start gagging.

Only time I ever sharted was after eating too much sashimi. And that was a mid-band practice shart. So, technically I can't vote NC and yet... NC.

sushi is one food where you can man up (eat a raw fish!?!) and gay up (i'll have the cute thing on the little plate with the fabulous looking stuff on top!) at the exact same time, and its the best thing in the world. the difference between good and bad is wider than most foods however, and since most people's first taste of raw fish is at a mediocre joint they get turned off quick. note: if it "tastes like the ocean" you are being served sub-par goods. that stuff is the mcdonald's of the sushi world and is not a good judge of the cuisine as a whole.

the good stuff tastes nothing like seawater (except things that are supposed to, like mackerel), and is the best thing you will ever eat. plus there're so many choices that its an adventure every time you eat. sea urchin roe? check! deep fried fish skeleton? check! deep fried baby crabs? check! monkfish liver? check! roast geoduck? hell yeah! i've eaten some crazy shit, and more often than not i'm happy with it (though i've eaten a thing or two that could've stayed in the ocean for sure. e.g. don't eat the eyeball out of a fried aji skeleton. ees no good.). another bonus is that there're tons of vegetarian options. shredded mountain potato, pickled radishes, tofu skin...

start simple...seared albacore, eel (its like teriyaki chicken you fucking pansies!), spicy tuna roll, and move on to the fresh sheet from there. the only thing i think should be avoided at all costs is raw squid. no flavor and its like chewing a bicycle tire. fuck that shit unless its cooked.

I've never had sushi, I love fish, so I wonder if I wood like sushi, however, I kinda think sardines are gross.

NOT CRAP. Waffle for sub-grade fish, which you can sniff out a mile away.

If you're new, don't be afraid to actually ask your server whats good. On the other hand, if you have any friends that are into sushi pretty hard, they'd probably love to go with you and point out what they like.

Our local sushi place has the freshest stuff on Wednesday during "Sushi happy hour."

It is one of the only foods I don't mind paying a lot for. it is delicious and pretty. You can eat tons of it and you will not feel like shit for hours after.

Spicy Tuna and Unagi Maki , Spicy Scallop is a close third. Tuna, Salmon, and Yellow Tail for Sashimi.

Eating Sushi with Gomae and Miso is the best lunch ever.

Most not crap food.

sashimi is better, but not crap for sushi.

i'm a fan of eel, but i'll eat almost anything sushi related.

seaweed salad and miso soup rule, too.
