first off, he's older and richer. rapping about a life of crime isn't "keeping it real" at this point in his life.

second, rapping thug/gangsta murder/drugs/"hos" shit is clearly just as entertaining to millions of whites, while promoting an image of blacks as ignorant, violent, woman-degrading criminals. how is that less of a "minstrel show"?

Yes - he's really turned a corner on portrayal of women, as he clearly demonstrates in this video.

but i suspect recent albums of his are not as aggressively misogynist as doggystyle.

He was a gangbanger drug dealer murderer when he made doggystyle, he wasn't pretending to be one for the amusement of white people. There's your difference.
Doggytsyle, when it was being made had nothing to do with a white audience at all, just because they picked up on it after the fact doesn't mean that's why it was made or directed towards originally.

My girlfriend is convinced that Snoop is completely misrepresenting his sexual generosity in this song/video. She thinks he's totally an "I got mine, time for naps" kinda guy.
