Much like the differences between people of different race and nationality, we shouldn't ignore these difference but the assumption that they come from genetic or physiological differences is prejudice. Racism in the 20th century was perpetuated by people saying "I know blacks/spics/jews want to be better, they just cannot help it. It is their genetic character and breeding". Nowadays homophobia and misogyny is spread on a similiar frequency.

Ignoring the behavorial difference is intolerance. Assuming that difference is there because it cannot be helped is bigotry. Equality is the pastrami between the two.

Also don't any fucker start that crap about hormones and biological differences. That shit is just the phrenology/horoscopes of the 21st century.

At my last job, the guy who ran the meetings would always say stuff to the group like "You guys are acting like girls! What, do you have vaginas or something? No offense, Kayte"
It was really demeaning. I hated it. I quit because of that guy (because of him showing me shit-porn pictures at work), and now they're suing me for $500. It's baffling and unpleasant, much like menstruation.

Are you trying to imply that the word 'weak' is essentially feminine?

When a guy uses the word "feminine" as a pejorative towards another guy, he means it as being a weakness.

big_dave wrote:If you accept 'bitch', then you'll have to accept 'faggot' because it refers to shrewish or nagging women. Then later it meant men with those attributions, then later on it graduated to becoming the most pejorative way of saying fudgepacker.

No, I'd don't have to accept "faggot" if I accept the usage of "bitch". We've grown up with an altered meaning of the word "faggot", as a homosexual slur. It's no longer directed at women.

I don't use the word "faggot" to describe someone, nor their actions because I don't consider homosexuality to be a negative in any way. If I were to use the word "bitch" towards either a man or a woman, I would use it to address the way they're acting, not as a personal, catch all judgment.

Kayte, you could get out of the lawsuit if you just turned on the waterworks a little. Oh, and wear something a little more... friendly.

I kid.

If I were you, I would call the EEOC about that place. Every single thing the guy who ran those meetings did that you listed more than qualifies as sexual harassment in the workplace.

or file a counter suit alleging sexual harassment or worse.

That'll get them off your case real quick, I'm thinking.

It was just so painful that you have never brought it up till now, you thought maybe it was your fault...but you now realize it wasn't you, it was the whole culture of the company.....you feel you are strong enough to face it now.

Man, I would be fucking rich if I was a chick. I would sue the shit out of everyone. You girls are really fucking up if you aren't involved in some litigation right this very minute.

Wal Mart dude grabbed my ass, dude at 7-11 called me baby, my boss rubbed his junk on me, the mailman showed me his balls....you could make a career of it.

She should not file a suit for the behavior she just mentioned, as that is nowhere near enough to merit a sexual harassment claim. Saying sexist comments and showing pictures of porn will not be enough. I exhaustively researched this issue last semester, and behavior much worse than that would still not suffice.

Courts' standards are rather tough for sexual harassment.

I'm just not going to pay it. Right now it's not a lawsuit but a lawyer writing increasingly threatening letters telling me to pay 500 for breaking my work contract. I just hope they don't have the ability to garnish wages because I'm making less than half than I was there and need all of it.
I want to sue them but the lawyer I consulted said I would need proof or at least one of my ex-coworkers to be a witness and those assholes wouldn't do it.

That may be, but 90% of these companies would hurriedly fall over themselves to monetarily squash it if they got wind of a threat by a former female employee.

I'm not talking about actually going through the court process, what's the point in that? So she can go through a bunch of bullshit and maybe get a check 10 years from now and hand 70% of it over to some asshole lawyer?

I saw it time and time again at the CBOT, every company I worked for....which was pretty much all of them by the end of it....these chicks would get a job there and 2 weeks later threaten to sue and they'd write her a check.

Saw it happen, and I'm in no way exaggerating, at least 100 times over the 6 or whatever years I worked there. Ask Peppers, he was down there with me.

These chicks are now rich, one of them got enough to buy a giant house in Nashville and make a shitty pop country record.
