FYI, making a jackass of yourself on a rock music website isn't going to change things either.

You're not influencing anybody's opinion around here by hurling insults and calling names. Your excessive histrionics are getting rather tiresome, Rick. Sitting at home all day in front of your computer typing rants to people who couldn't give a fuck doesn't make you into some kind of a hero. It's really rather pathetic.

Why don't you make yourself a nice cup of chamomile tea or something and just chill out.

I had to go visit the INS again today, and I was stuck in the waiting room for an hour, with Fox News playing loudly on TVs in every corner of the ceiling (yes, it's as annoying as you can imagine).

For the entire hour they had Pastor Wright's "God Damn America" clip playing on infinite loop, only breaking for a few ads and for some commentators to talk over the clip with phrases like, "That's it, Obama's done...".

As I left the waiting room I heard the reporter say, "Coming up in the next hour - more analysis of Obama's Pastor's hate-America comments!"

Jesus H. Christ. Who gives a fuck what this idiot religious whackjob said.

I'm pretty strongly anti-religious, especially of the three Abrahamic religions (well, more Christianity and Islam than Judaism, since the Jews never went around trying to get the rest of the word to be Jewish. And more Christianity that Islam, since Muslim countries/people tend to get shit on more by the rest of the world than Christian ones). They fill people with senseless justification for just about any cause their leaders can convince them is right according to god and their religion. They set up arbitrary rules and restrictions that people dogmatically stick to. They give us yet another totally irrational way to separate ourselves from the other or the others. And Jesus fucking Christ, I can't think of many worse ways to spend a sunday morning than listening to a douche in a hat or a collar or whatever telling me that I've got to love God and do shit for God and that I'm going to hell. I'd rather be waking up hungover in a pile of my own puke.

But, here we have a religious leader speaking, not "inflamatory rhetoric", but accurate analysis. And Obama's gonna take shit for it, and the pastor's gonna take shit for it. And all the politicians are gonna have to prove their patriotism, cause God forbid the US actually own up to the shit we pull that causes citizens of our own or other countries to be righteously and justly pissed at us. So much so that they'll blow up our non-policy making citizens. It doesn't justify it, but it explains it; the frustration, rage, and condemnation directed at this country are justified, it's just the violence that isn't.

Salut to Reverend Wright for not towing the line.

Well, the complete repudiation has come.

Obama wrote:The pastor of my church, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who recently preached his last sermon and is in the process of retiring, has touched off a firestorm over the last few days. He's drawn attention as the result of some inflammatory and appalling remarks he made about our country, our politics, and my political opponents.

Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.

Because these particular statements by Rev. Wright are so contrary to my own life and beliefs, a number of people have legitimately raised questions about the nature of my relationship with Rev. Wright and my membership in the church. Let me therefore provide some context.

As I have written about in my books, I first joined Trinity United Church of Christ nearly twenty years ago. I knew Rev. Wright as someone who served this nation with honor as a United States Marine, as a respected biblical scholar, and as someone who taught or lectured at seminaries across the country, from Union Theological Seminary to the University of Chicago. He also led a diverse congregation that was and still is a pillar of the South Side and the entire city of Chicago. It's a congregation that does not merely preach social justice but acts it out each day, through ministries ranging from housing the homeless to reaching out to those with HIV/AIDS.

Most importantly, Rev. Wright preached the gospel of Jesus, a gospel on which I base my life. In other words, he has never been my political advisor; he's been my pastor. And the sermons I heard him preach always related to our obligation to love God and one another, to work on behalf of the poor, and to seek justice at every turn.

The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments. But because Rev. Wright was on the verge of retirement, and because of my strong links to the Trinity faith community, where I married my wife and where my daughters were baptized, I did not think it appropriate to leave the church.

Let me repeat what I've said earlier. All of the statements that have been the subject of controversy are ones that I vehemently condemn. They in no way reflect my attitudes and directly contradict my profound love for this country.

With Rev. Wright's retirement and the ascension of my new pastor, Rev. Otis Moss, III, Michelle and I look forward to continuing a relationship with a church that has done so much good. And while Rev. Wright's statements have pained and angered me, I believe that Americans will judge me not on the basis of what someone else said, but on the basis of who I am and what I believe in; on my values, judgment and experience to be President of the United States.

But then, I never really expected anyone running for president to actually take on the issue of America's shitiness. Well, anyone "viably" running for president.

Since when was he ON Obama's campaign?

They're trying to equate Rev. Wright's involvement level with that of Geraldine Ferraro, which is bullshit.

Fuck you, CNN!

wow, fucking appalling.

btw, I didn't see what was wrong with that wright video other than the fact he believes in Jesus.

everything else seemed dead on.
