where can I get a good gyro?

The Gyro is a favorite food of mine. I only have a second right now, so real brief summary - You have 3 real options on the north side for a good gyro:

3rd best: Nikko's - Most people swear by nikko's being the best. I admit its a solid option, but not the best. Diversey/Western/Elston

2nd best: Hub's - Hub's is not only becoming my favorite place to get a gyro, but my favorite place to get any fast food. (The chicken at Hubs ranks up there with Charcoal Delights on Foster, which is the best chicken sandwich in Chicago IMO.) This place was in a shitty SNL skit in the 90s that I've never seen, but they have pictures of it everywhere. Lincoln just south of Bryn Mawr.

1st bestest: Windy City Gyros - Dear god, this is the mecca of gyros. I used to take the train here in college when I panhandled for enough change to get one, its that good. No frills, no flash, just a perfect gyros. I'm tempted to go there right now just writing about it. On Broadway just south of Irving.

I recommend getting the double meat on all of these, and order and extra pita/yogurt sauce to take home. You'll eat for days from all of these places. You can't lose with these options! Enjoy!

Niko's and Hub's are roughly equivalent. I probably prefer Niko's slightly for gyros.

I eat at Hub's at least once a week. The roasted half chicken and chicken kebabs are outstanding, and the gyros are usually real good.

I will have to try Windy City.

There are a couple of totally rundown places in Greektown that are very good for fast food Greek. Can't remember their names.

The best gyros I have ever et are, however improbably, from the Greek Pastry Shop in Missoula, Montana. I have eaten many of them. I am on my second and third generations of the family who own that place.

Grecian Kitchen, in Skokie.

Actually, I cannot disagree with this - fantastic call MF Nightmen.

The fuckers charge you to get in, plus the food and drink are not altogether cheap for a festival, but it is truly outstanding food. Save up your money and your appetite for this. Its a winner.
