I can't believe I haven't weighed on this previously...
AmRep was a massively important influence in my life. I was 16 yo when I saw the COWS, Guzzard, Hammerhead, Janitor Joe, etc and for a couple yrs there AmRep was hands down my absolute favorite record label. In some cases I bought records right out of the box when Pat Dwyer would bring them into Garage D'or Records (RIP) which was located right up the street from the AmRep offices. This record label right in my hometown putting out these albums seemed like such a huge deal to me at the time. I loved the logo, the aesthetic, collecting the 7", the bands, etc. At the time nothing in the world could have been cooler.
They def put out some CRAP and some of the stuff hasn't not aged for me very well, but they also put out some records that still sound incredible to me. In some way I am sure the exsistence of this label shaped musical tastes today, mostly for the better I think.
I could never vote anything other then NOT CRAP.
Plus, transforming yr record label into a bar is cool.

Echoing what the Classical said, this label was much more important to me as a young lad, then they are now. It was cool to see their bands playing in my hometown (Chokebore, Cows, God Bullies, Hammerhead, Calvin Krime, etc etc etc). However, I think a lot of the records on that label reflect that period of time, rather than any sort of timelessness. Regardless, AMREP's influence can't be overstated........
Tar Jackson - NOT CRAP
Freedom Fighters - NOT CRAP
Unsane - NOT CRAP
Boss Hog - NOT CRAP
Chokebore Anything Near Water - NOT CRAP
Thrown Ups - NOT CRAP
Janitor Joe Big Metal Birds - NOT CRAP
Cows - NOT CRAP
God Bullies - CRAP
Halo of Flies - NOT CRAP
NOT CRAP overall.
yadda yadda yadda

Let me guess: Prick, Colossus of Destiny, and Electroretard?
Anyway, Melvins are definitely NOT CRAP.
mangled demo from 83 , Your Choice Live Series 91 and "never breathe what you can't see" with Jello Biaffra : this one's terrible , 6 min boring songs , awful .
however , i got 2 songs from comps , "charmicatmicat" and "vile"
that are cool .

Amrep is a great label.
I cant understand why some have labeled bands like Melvins and Today is The Day as CRAP. Tonal obliteration for both parties. Fuck you, if you don't agree.
NOT CRAP!

Yeah, those are all pretty bad places to start with Melvins stuff. I don't care for either of the Biafra albums.
I started with Bullhead, Eggnog (where Charicarmicat comes from), and Ozma (the first song is Vile).
A lot of people dig the Atlantic stuff - Houdini, Stoner Witch, and Stag.
Hardcore Melvins fans are generally fond of The Maggot, Hostile Ambient Takeover, A Senile Animal, and Pigs of the Roman Empire.

I found a copy of Supernova's "Ages 3 and Up" LP at the Antiquarium in Omaha this weekend. This record is not crap, much like a ton of stuff previously mentioned.
