I used to feel the same way about the cutting process.
Then I found a hairdressers I like and have stuck with them.
I even make trips back to Boro to get my hair cut in the same place.

But generally fellas look better with short hair. There's a handful of exceptions but they get fewer with the passage of time.

My answer to the question is : maybe you can compromise and have it cut shorter, but still have it kinda semi-long? I don't know, I might be talking shit. But I think you pull the long hair off quite well- which is pretty rare.
