i've listened to the new album a couple times more, & though i'm still kinda undecided, i swear there is at least one jimmy buffet tune on there.

maybe i just have to accept the fact that this is another equally interesting band, dunno.

i lived by:

and when there's trouble I dont like running
but I'm afraid I got more in common
with who I was than who I am becoming



for a long time.

When he's good he's great. No doubt. I can't rip on him too much. There's always something insightful in there somewhere.

The new record is much different than all that has come before. Quite different...

I still sort of like it. But it is not like "Tanglewood Numbers", which (while flawed) clearly had some great songs (I am thinking of one of the greatest songs of all time, "The Farmer's Hotel".)

Also: while I always thought of that record as 'flawed', I never thought the thread had been completely lost. It is too soon to tell what is up with "Lookout Mtn, Lookout Sea".

But there are moments of it that I find delightful.
