Oh, and I bet the reaction of many people in this thread would be eerily similar after he or she had taken a few hurled bottles to the face.
Not justifying the language, homophobia, or threats used by the person in question. I'm just saying that your reaction might be a little extreme as well after you've taken a few solid objects to the head in a festival setting.

If this is neither sarcastic nor a joke,
I am going to have to call the tenured faculty of the University of Terrible to nominate you for the dumbest statement in the history of the internet. Think about that for a second. In the history
of the internet.
I can think of at least one that's dumber.

True, but have you not also seen people take bottles to the head in small clubs? I have.

Only once, Korn was opening for Sick of it all at the metro and the singer got whaped in the face. Aside from that, not really no.
It's way, way more rare. Festivals, you KNOW you are gonna get hit with something. It's not even in the cards that you would not.

Just not that wild and dangerous?
The whole thing is pretty tame. He yelled at someone who threw some shit at him. Yawn.
The actual music is supposed to be dangerous. It's not a prison. It's entertainment.
I don't view it as simply a water bottle/shoe being thrown and some gay slurs being thrown around. The singer singled one kid out in front of thousands. It's not out of the question for some drunk, misguided douches to beat up or kill this kid to try and impress the singer. Arena rock shows are easily that stupid that people are killed at them. There isn't really that much to disagree with. He put the kid's life in danger.

i'm sure all the reactions would be gentle as lambs when you're playing a show, at a festival, with the flu, and some 13yr old whips a shoe at your head.
no, i'd probably put my guitar down and kick his ass myself. yes, some punk ass tween. sick, and all. might even vomit on him.
i wouldn't say any of the stupid shit other than, "that's it, prick, here i come. somebody grab him."

If I grew up being called "Josh Hommo", I'd probably have an attitude too.
