Damn it, I had a feeling it was death and not black metal.
Sorry everyone.
Now go watch the little fella go.

Ok if you are in High School but I think it is a little silly if you are an adult. Who cares that you learned a cover.
BTW I am starting an all YouTube coverband called "Des Tablature" (say it Frenchy) We will wear frilly, billowy shirts and sweep pick a lot.
Des Tablature Not Crap.

if you are interested in folk music you tube covers an interesting tool.
(when I say folk I mean traditional ballads, not just some dude playing acoustic guitar)
Por example: I do archiving at the Old Town School of folk music. I got this show from '62 where Ginny Clemens is doing a song. I'm not sure if its called "Darling Corey" or "Dig a Hole in the Meadow" I find entries in the Trad Ballad index for both titles.
I search you tube and find covers called "Dig a Hole in The Meadow" and covers called "Darling Corey". I discover that the songs are pretty much Identical 2 chord AAAA forms but "Dig a Hole in the Meadow" has a refrain which is sung at the start of the song and is repeated after every verse like a chours. But in "Darling Corey" they start with a firmata "wake up wake uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup"
Its not very scientific but its better then just choosing one of the two titles. It is "folk music" so how people play it and what they call the tunes matters more then finding it in a book somewhere.
Also, if you like bluegrass picking (which I'm sure most of you don't) you can always find old dudes on you tube showing you how to break it down. Its like free music lessons if you find the right video.
Even though a lot of the recordings of Darling Corey on you tube were crap they helped me do my job so I say Not Crap.

The idea of covering a song at a show and posting that show footage on YouTube seems innocuous to me, but covering a song specifically to post it on YouTube seems a little goofy for reasons I can't explain.
No offense intended to anyone who enjoys doing this, but I have to vote CRAP.

it also makes it annoying when you're looking for videos of the actual band (see: trying to find neutral milk hotel videos on youtube)
crap.

Yeah, I agree with this, even though I enjoy watching self-made covers, it's annoying when I keep stumbling on them.
MORE annoying though, is when I'm looking for live numbers or videos, and I find the video that's just a stillframe of the album cover and simply the MP3 of the song playing from the album. :bash: THAT'S irritating.

I can't vote crap.
She can sing that.
I was gonna vote crap on the thing as a whole.
But...a whole lot of little dudes and girls living out in the middle of nowhere have YouTube as this crazy means of production, to try shit out and say what they have to say and so forth.
I kinda like that, and every now and again it's actually good, like this girl here, so heck not crap from me.

Eff off, Tim. You just watched it to see if she popped out of that top. Typical bloke.
Actually, I'm gonna go watch it again just to make extra sure she didn't.

I couldn't watch the whole thing. I felt creepy.
But I did listen to it all.
