I'm somewhere between 60% and 70% in agreement with that list, but c'mon, how can the Beatles "go the fuck away now" any more than they already have? They broke up almost forty years ago and half of 'em are dead, for christ's sake. If they're still a cultural presence, it's because most folks like them, and there's not much anyone can do about that at this late date. Also, "Euro Techno Remixes" isn't a band so far as I know, and where the hell are Nickelback, who are more offensive than practically anyone they cited?

Can we all agree that it would be best for everyone if the members of The Smoking Popes would just die?

First band that came to my mind when I saw this thread was R.E.M. This summer I skimmed an interview with Mike Mills in Vancouver's weekly, The Georgia Straight. I guess R.E.M. recorded some of their last album here. Mills went on about how Vancouver was a great city for musicians because there's so many high quality restaurants here--fancy restaurants make musicians "feel at home." Thanks, you dorky millionaire. You would still get a pass if your music were passable: now please fuck off forever.

I can't speak for the rest of their material, but Born to Quit is a fucking fantastic pop record. It transcends whatever bullshit marketing label this band usually gets tagged.
