Worst Gear Sale-Mistake?

Traded my all original, pristine, blackface 1965 Deluxe Reverb for a 70's silverface Twin and a rare 70's purple Marshall 4x12 slant cabinet. At the time it was maybe parity for value but a complete failed trade when tone is considered. I traded the Marshall cab for a blackface Dual Showman head which later got stolen.

At least the guy (he's a "bacon" good touring Blues guitarist) enjoyed it immensely and put it to good daily use instead of it sitting as a collectors item in some lawyer's "music" room.

Huge regret though.

Traded Mosrite The Ventures model, serial #108, with rare sand-cast Vibramute and original "Jetsons" knobs for a red strat-shaped guitar made out of catalog parts.

That red guitar went around the world with me and we had a lot of adventures. I still have it, and it gets used now and again, but fuck me I wish I'd respected my inner Ramones devotee a little more. That Mosrite was super great.

I got rid of a 1974 Fender Jazz bass in a trade for some Yamaha Recording Custom drums. I don't play drums, yet I needed a house set as drummers are hard pressed to stay employed.

One silver lining in the whole deal, I paid $350.00 for the Fender in 1992 and I sold the drums individually for a grand total of $900-1000 or something.

selling a metal flake green 1972 Fender P-Bass because I "didn't need it anymore" for $450

trading a nice sounding, vintage Roger's Blue Onyx Holiday drum kit in great condition for a clear Ludwig Vistalite, impossible to tune, piece-of-shit fucked up tupperware sounding kit.

selling a Fender Super Reverb for $450 to a friend

I'm thinking you need to go to Gear Selling rehab.

I sold my Travis Bean bass for $800 in 2001. They're only worth, what, three four times that now? Plus, I realized only too late how much I liked playing that thing.

I sold my Ampeg B-15 for $500. Regret that, too.
