If I have a case for the thing, I leave it in there, stacked in a corner. Otherwise it's stands for me, or leaning up against whatever piece of furniture/wall is closest to where I was last playing it. I dislike wall hangers, as I then can't put shelves/stacked boxes/pictures on that wall. Kinda gets in the way. I can move stands at will. Plus my last house had plaster walls, which are a pain in the ass to patch after putting holes in them.

Those hooks have taken some finish off more than one of my guitars before. I don't really care, but it has happened.

You can also get the stands that don't touch the neck at all, they support down at the body.

Most of the gear I have don't have a symmetrical ass, so they're nearly useless. :(
Lisa Loeb doesn't have a symmetrical ass either.

My current setup needs a hook system (8 guitars)... and I think yours should too. Also, in regards to finish coming off a guitar because of it if you're worried you can do what my bf does and throw a towel on the rubber. His Les Paul hasn't had any dulling yet and it's been about 4 years
