Sipowicz is not crap.

Marge: Homer, I don't think you should wear a short-sleeve shirt with a tie.
Homer: Ohhh, but Sipowicz does it.
Marge: If Detective Sipowicz jumped off a cliff, would you do that too?
Homer: (as he walks away) Ohhh, I wish I was Sipowicz.

I wear button-down short sleeves in the summer almost exclusively, but I would never ever wear a tie with it. A long-sleeve with rolled sleeves is acceptable, not a short sleeve plus tie.

Still, it CAN be pulled off. Very rarely though.

Agreement we all must come to: MUST BE TUCKED WITH TIE.

Not crap 9WF.

I am with Kyle, Faiz, and Daniel in re: pushing the shirtsleeves up. I do this. Pushed-up shirtsleeves look fine with a tie. I am also not surprised that Faiz can pull off this "short-sleeved and tie" business.

Buzz Aldrin you don't think he "has the best look".

OK!

Listen, princess. Let's not get out of hand with this "best look" business; we may end up with a fifteen page thread about it.

Thing is, this does look cool on astronauts and '60s science types, but those aren't the people I'm talking about. Maybe this can be pulled off, but I'm not seeing it.

I've worn a short-sleeved button-down shirt with a tie on plenty of occassions and never thought twice about it.

Will probably do so again this Friday night.

Not crap at all. I have worn this at various times in the summer heat. Also, my grandfather worked for NASA in the 1960's so it is in my blood. Bowties with short sleeves are also not crap. Add suspenders and they both become crap.

I do kinda like to do this:

Short sleeved button-up, tie, thermal undershirt underneath.

Scoff away clotheshorse people. Just don't ever tell me I have the best look.
