Not me, I used the word sarcastically. But for a long time I assumed the bands themselves would, so as not to devalue the levels they might've reached or ended at. Fanboys will slobber at anything, no matter how trivial, mundane, or unnecessary.

really, 8 crap votes? for what? because you're scared that they won't be as good as an album you really like (which, by the way, they wrote)?

I didn't vote 8 times, but I'd imagine some people don't want the band to shit on something that they hold dear; dissapointment and not a case of heebie-geebies. There is something to be said about holding up a standard of worth and not tarnishing a good reputation for ulterior motivations.

if you don't like the band, that's reasonable. but to treat a band like you know what's best for them, or to hold them to some standard that you invented for them, is idiotic.

I don't care about Slint. I used the topic of their reunion as a basis to run off on the idea of how superfluous reformation weakens the strength of substance and appeal.

My standards are more universal than the methods an ex-teenage rock band from Kentucky chooses to operate.

Personally though, I’d like to remind everybody of two decades of Drag City dullness before they line up to buy their tickets.

Yeah, Slint should definitely not get together and play music just incase some people who like their album from 13 years ago arent impressed.

This is a weird discussion.

I can see why people don't support it. Nostalgia, and fanboys, are gay. Take the pixies reunion. They were a good band who didn't get too popular and broke up, but since famous people namechecked them, they gained fanboys and reuinted at a time they have more fans than they did originally. Now a bunch of douche buckets in their late thirties who were listening to U2 at the time are singing their praises and putting them on the cover of spin. That probably won't happen with slint, but still, it has the possibility to be gay.

I'm down for another happy flowers reuinon though, fuck yea!

i'm surprised at how negative this discussion is, not just negative but pissed-off-seeming. we all know that bands break up for weird reasons, and a lot of times the members' lives never line up in a way that allows them to play together again. slint are lucky enough to be in that situation. if they feel the inspiration to record again, whats the problem? i fail to see how that ruins the "legacy." also, the notion that being older means you can't make good music anymore is stupid.

i can only hope that in 10-15 years i'm still able to make music with my friends. and the songs we'd play wouldn't even be half as good as slint's.

plus, its totally not nostalgia for me and a lot of people, because we didnt hear about slint until way after the fact anyway.

the Pixies opened for U2 back in the day. And they were very popular then too.
