That would be Thin Lizzy. As perhaps the finest hard rock band of the 1970's, they have no place in this thread. They have at least five full albums worth of material that rival any of their heavy hitting brethren. I'll take Lizzy over Zeppelin, Queen, Alice, even Humble Pie!--just about anybody except maybe Sabbath, AC/DC, and Skynyrd.

yeah....anything by slint. they have a place on this thread. wait... its all CRAP!!! HA!

3. "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera

yes, yes. this is a great song. and i am not at all a fan of xina.

i almost like '1979' enough to say i like it, but not quite

also i second "the boys of summer," which we have discussed elsewhere on this forum

also i second "dance hall days" by wang chung, although i like "to live and die in l.a." a little bit also

and i almost second "goin' blind"

"goin' blind" is a great song, and kiss, i have come to realize, was an even worse band than i thought they were in high school. however, my enjoyment of some other kiss trax ('hotter than hell' and 'cold gin' ['you know you'll always win!'] in partic) precludes a write-off of the rest of the kiss oeuvre.

my addition to the list at this time is "i want it that way" by backstreet boyz

oh, and on the linda perry tip (writer of 'beautiful'), i will throw 'get the party started' on the pile

"sultans of swing" pretty much makes it, as well

oh so many

I must admit, I am ignorant of the thin lizzy. Since I am alone, I will take myself outside and shoot myself. So sorry if I offended anyone who had to take time out of their busy schedules to point this out.

Ah, mooliachi. I feel your pain. The home page says "Welcome!", but the message board sometimes does not.

"Boys of Summer" definitely makes the list. And I really hate Don Henley.

I nominate "You're So Vain." Not the Jack Klugman/Tony Randall version, which is nearly as stupid as the rest of Carly Simon's output.

Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf

I stole my dad's Steppenwolf Greatest Hits CD and I was excited because I thought it might be decent, but then I was really amused to find out that Steppenwolf sucks except for this one song.

Kinda think that band is shite, but always liked that track....
"Miss World" from Hole.
And just remembered as well of "Digital Love" from Daft Punk, that synth-fake guitar sound solo at the end of the song sounds really ......er cool.

good call on "Interstate Love Song"

also "Sister Golden Hair" and "Ventura Highway." otherwise America makes me want to maim and slaughter.

and as much as I hate Ted Nugent, "Journey to the Center of the Mind" by the Amboy Dukes is a motherfucker.

spandau ballet "true"

i would agree that "beautifull" song is pretty darn good. sounds like phil spectre era lennon solo stuff.

anybody ever notice how good the bass playing is on some of that old duran duran stuff?

"steppin out" by joe jackson is an awesome tune, but most of his stuff wears on me real quick.

"porcelein" by moby.

Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf

hmmm, i'd say 'born to be wild' disqualifies them, but they were so bad otherwise, maybe we shd make an exception.

if you are in search of a laff sometime, buy a copy of _steppenwolf live_ and listen to the bass playing. so out of tune. so bad.

head over heels
when toe to toe
this is the sound of my soul

you are brave to reveal this gae preference. i will be slightly less brave in agreeing with you and revealing my own significant enjoyment of this song.

"gold" is the inverse of "true"

the way he sings 'in-duh-STRUCK-ta-bOOW-owl' is hilarious
