Progress report- On the acoustic- nothing that was worth pics, I glued in the tailblock, finished up the neck tennon and neck block. Also, turns out Alder bends OK,Univox is coming along- finished the wiring, got the bridge studs to stabilize, threaded the strap buttons in without spider-webbing, and test fit the neck. Also no pics, but got the mandolin sprayed in clear- should be able to assemble this week if i get a few spare minutes at the shop.I'm going to try a small, lighter version of my work box- converting this 'Jensen Tools/ Halliburton' case. already pretty perfect. And decided to go with stacked cork rather than traditional stacked birch bark for the handle of the knife. Just need o make some aluminum bolsters to the top and bottom

Well, I managed to get the kerfing glued in and started on fitting the top and back. Univox is done and officially on the chopping block- plays nice, intonates well, sounds like a 70's rock machine. But I have way too many. And made a start on the aluminum work box

The one I had sounded really weird - the 2 pickup thing didn't really work and it always sounded really dead so any kind of upgrade to something with more bite would be a good idea (as Chris has done here).I got this fine advice from FM Honeyisfunny and opted for some PAF type HB's- they're both in the 7.5-8k range. As I was playing it I found I liked the neck better, but that is often the case with me.

lots of little odds and ends slowing me down, but spent yesterday tracking the new BSMK record. got a couple minutes today to do this- went about 1mm into the walnut and glued in a nice piece of maple veneer (leftover from converting bass VIs) over the seam on the tailblock. It is in the 40's, so things might set up fast enough for me to have a shot at glueing on the back tonight.
