I hate people using exclamation marks when they should be using a question mark, especially in advertising.
There's a billboard in my town for a breakfast diner, and it shows some pancakes or waffles or something, and it's trying to say, "Want some, don't you?", but instead it says:

As for non-linguistic pet peeves, I experienced one today: Whispering in public places. (I'm not talking about libraries, art galleries, funeral homes, etc.) If it's that private a conversation, you should probably have it in a private place. I can't think of any good reason why this bothers me so much, but it's got a real nails-on-the-blackboard quality for me.
