What about Bradleyizing? Is that the "correct" spelling if such a word existed?

This word does not exist in any way.

Bradley,

What are your thoughts on the word "realise", especially when spelled "realize". I always thought that the former was the only correct spelling but it seems Uncle Sam thinks it's fine to spell it with a 'z'?

And now i just get confused / annoyed.

Nobody asked me, but:

'Realize' is correct in the US. 'Realise' is correct in the UK. I don't think that suffix is ever correctly spelled 'ise' in the US. Also: defense, color, and aluminum are correct over here. And we pronounce lieutenant loo-tenant, not leff-tenant.

This thread has been officially linguisted.

One final note: if I ever get a cat or a dog, I'm gonna name it "Peeves" so that I can talk about my pet Peeves all the time.

Stewie is right, and it's my fault.

Let's talk about non-linguistic annoyances, such as bicyclists who ride on the sidewalk.

Stay to the RIGHT on the stairs in the subway!

LOOK where you are walking!

Stay to the RIGHT on the stairs in the subway!

Be on time!

Don't ever explain to me why you are late! I don't care (see: "be on time".)

LOOK where you are walking!

Do not use the phrase "these ones" it is redundant. Just say "these" it'll suffice, I promise.

Stay to the RIGHT on the stairs in the subway!

Get your umbrella out of my eye!

LOOK where you are walking!

Cheers,

I didn't think I had a pet peeve, but I guess I do.
I hate people using exclamation marks when they should be using a question mark, especially in advertising.

"What did you say!!!"

"Are you READY!"

Ugh.

There's a billboard in my town for a breakfast diner, and it shows some pancakes or waffles or something, and it's trying to say, "Want some, don't you?", but instead it says:
Stupid Billboard wrote:Want some!

Don't you...

As for non-linguistic pet peeves, I experienced one today: Whispering in public places. (I'm not talking about libraries, art galleries, funeral homes, etc.) If it's that private a conversation, you should probably have it in a private place. I can't think of any good reason why this bothers me so much, but it's got a real nails-on-the-blackboard quality for me.
