Alright, so here's what I've been fortunate enough to try lately:Osocalis Rare Alambic, VSOP, Soquel, CA. Cognac style brandy from Santa Cruz County, made with California grapes. Distilled in an antique still from Cognac. Pretty exceptional stuff. A little hot throughout but really nice mid-length finish. Many herb and fruit notes. Osocalis XO. This stuff is holy shit good, like incredible. All brandy in the blend is ten years old at least. I'll say Holy Shit one more time, just cuz.Chateau de Pellehaut Blanche D'Armagnac. Think of it as 'silver' Armagnac, never sees oak. Hot throughout, but inoffensively so. Lots of pear, cherry, raisin. Fantastic for cocktails. Goddamn, I love brandy. Been sleeping especially good, too.

It's an amazing way to make poor decisions - you can tear through the bottle in a night without much trouble.I read about that the other day, haven't seen that around here yet, though.dabrasha wrote:enframed wrote:Osocalis Thanks for the heads up on these dudes. Never had it. I do know that Christian Brothers, that at least began as an actual Christian group that made wine to sell to finance its operations, was one of the few wineries to remain open during prohibition making wine for use in church and medicinally. Distilling their own brandy came after prohibition, I think.
