I have to say that after numerous listens, I prefer the Speakerboxx half much more than The Love Below. Both gents are on the former, while the latter seems a bit self indulgent.

i like speakerboxxx somewhat more than the love below, taken as a whole

they are both self-indulgent, i think, but a quadruple album, i gotta figure that was the idea

Only familiar with Stankonia.

The chorus to "Gasoline Dreams" ran through my head every time I read something about Katrina and New Orleans this year.

Don't everybody like the smell of gasoline?
Well burn motherfucka burn American Dream
Don't everybody like the taste of Apple Pie?
We'll snap for your slice of life I'm tellin' ya why
I hear that mother nature's now on birth control
The coldest pimp be looking for somebody to hold
The highway up to Heaven got a crook on the toll
Youth full of fire ain't got nowhere to go nowhere to go

Not crap.

They are one of very few Hip Hop acts that seem to be genuinely interested in making music. Meaning, the lifestyle bullshit doesn't seem to be the reason they do it.

I particuarly like Andre. Anytime I've seen him in an interview, he seems really nice, he's polite, and above all, just *interested* in stuff - new forms of music, etc, which is probably how he wrote the best Top 40 pop song of 2004. I just don't see that happening with many other Hip Hop artists.

He's one of the few Hip Hip artists I've ever seen repeatedly photographed holding a...guitar, which he can play - well.

Plus, anyone who can dress like that and get away with it has got to be OK.

For my money, Bombs Over Bagdad is the most ass shaking song I've heard in a decade. I don't listen to a lot of Hip Hop, and I don't dance, but anytime I hear that song, my head starts doing that side-to-side, pivoting on the neck thing. Can't be helped.
Just when you think the song has fully kicked your ass, that fucking great outro comes along. Wow.

I don't consider them anything like P-funk, aside from in spirit, so I'll say they are the best of their genre.
Not crap. No waffle.

I do listen to a lot of "black music." Shit tons actually, but it's older funk, soul and jazz. No euphemisms, it's Hip Hop that I don't listen to very much of.
You're now free to take the piss out of me for ending that last sentence with a prepostion.

True. Kinda makes me proud when I was watching some MTV show about the history of rap and finding out they got shit on a bunch cause they were from ATL.

I almost had an internship at Stankonia studios, but I didnt want to be around all the shady business I got the feeling was going on there.

Andre has been known to show up at D.I.Y. "punk" shows around town. There was a rumor he was starting a hardcore (or at least a rock) band, but I never heard of it actually happening.

NOT CRAP! It seems like they're pushing boundaries in whatever they do, and I think that's most respectable.

Well up until yesterday I would of voted crap just because I think they are getting a little too big for their britches. But, I just picked up 8Ball and MJG's album from '99, and there is a track on that disc with Outkast that is absolutly banannas. NOT CRAP
