I have nothing good to say about The Strokes, their records, the sound of their records or anything that is directly stroke-linked apart from the fact that I'd rather have a Strokes CD than a stroke.

CRAP.

I like their music, although I must agree they seem a bit rock star-ish. Maybe that's because they are rock stars, but still. I saw them and I definately felt like I was in the "audience".

But as a "band" they could really pull it off, which is more than one could say about most popular bands. When you see live footage of Linkin Park or the like, you get a whole new appreciation for the "studio magician".

I also really like the fact that there is not a single crash/splash cymbal on the first record. I love how he is able to make changes without resorting to the old "crash" like I do. Plus he's doin it with Drew Barrymore.

I like the first two Strokes albums heap plenty. Not crap.

Juicebox isn't so much odd as it is uninteresting, to paraphrase Yow.

It sounds like they want to be a band that grows, etc., but I am not sure they have the musicality to pull it off. The new single sounds strained, conceived more than felt.

Whatever. Two good records is really quite alot.

The first record is great.
That second record is terrible.
That new song is stupid.

Ah, I was feeling a bit cranky, I'm sure you've got good taste... apart from the Strokes thing.

[humble pie face]

CRAP with little waffles
why waffles: i like some of their songs, or at least i liked them when i first heard them. now they bore me to death.
why CRAP: first record consists of variations of one songs and no matter how catchy this song is, this blows.
i don't get what's so cool in having a drummer who plays like a beat box. really. oh he sounds like beat box, too. now i get it... no, i don't.

this new song sucks.
